Abstrakt
Jedna z najbardziej fascynujących i prowokacyjnych postaci w historii, Echnatona, zawładnął wyobraźnią jak żaden inny egipski faraon. Znany jako "heretyk", król Echnaton starał się narzucić swoją osobistą wizję Egiptowi, szczególnie w mieście, które założył, które nazwał Akhetaten ("Horyzont Atona"; współczesny Tell el-Amarna), oraz jego mieszkańcom, promując główny obiekt kultowej uwagi, boga słońca Atona.
Wyniki najnowszych prac archeologicznych na tym stanowisku, zwłaszcza w części Wielkiej Świątyni Atona ("Dom Atona"), w opinii Barry'ego Kempa, dostarczyły bardziej zróżnicowanego spojrzenia na prawdziwą naturę atomizm króla Echnatona.
